Client:ALDI
Project Value:£1.8 Million
Project Duration:ONGOING (2025)

Overview :

Marron Civil Engineering is delivering the civil works package for the new Aldi supermarket in Hastings, part of a wider mixed-use redevelopment at the former Ashdown House site.

The scheme includes 151 new homes, a community centre, and the new food store—bringing vital infrastructure and retail access to the local area.

Scope of Works:

  • Groundworks and Foundations:
Site clearance and enabling works following demolition of the former DWP building, including formation of foundations for the new store and associated structures.

  • Deep Drainage and Attenuation:
Installation of stormwater drainage systems and attenuation infrastructure to support the expanded footprint and mitigate flood risk across the site.

  • Temporary Works and Site Logistics:
Careful sequencing of works within a constrained urban site, including hoarding, traffic management, and coordination with residential construction teams.

  • External Works and Car Park Formation:
Construction of access roads, hard landscaping, and formation of a new car park to serve the store and wider development.

Marron Civil Engineering’s expertise in managing complex ground conditions and live environments ensures seamless integration with Camford Construction’s programme.

The Aldi store is expected to create up to 50 new jobs and provide a much-needed retail offering for the St Leonards community.
